Anthony’s Goods is a company I learned about when I was looking for Gluten-Free & Vegan meats. I haven’t tried their products yet, but I look forward to sampling them very soon.
When I first became vegan I was introduced to products similar to these. They can add texture to meals and make them feel heartier. These products need some preparation BEFORE use and are not like a flavored and ready-to-use product like Beyond, Daring, Gardein, or Impossible.
The smaller granules can be added directly to a sauce and hydrated there. I prefer to hydrate the chunks and strips by simmering them in a pot of flavorful vegetable stock.
When hydrated, these protein morsels add texture and chewiness to the dish. Keep in mind that they are unflavored, so you will need a savory sauce or broth to make these taste delicious.
Noble Plate & Plant Basics also make a similar product to these. If you want pre-flavoured meat crumbles I recommend trying Abbot’s Butcher, Beyond & Gardein.
